At Northern Beaches Anglicans we are committed to ministry that responds to all the seasons of life. We believe that every person, at every stage of life, is precious to God. We believe that the Christian message ought to be accessible and is timelessly relevant to everyone from the new born baby to the frailest senior citizen. We are ‘a work in progress’ in fleshing out our commitment. We are keen to introduce you to the current ways we are expressing this ‘cradle to the grave’ ministry. We will keep you informed as our commitment grows more limbs.
Northern Beaches Anglicans is committed to a warm and embracing baptism ministry that honours the biblical understanding of baptism as an outward sign of an inner desire to follow Jesus Christ. We are committed to baptizing people of all ages who are willing to embrace Jesus as Saviour and Lord either through personal confession of faith or by the confession of faith of parents answering on behalf of their children. We welcome enquiries and the opportunity of meeting with people in preparation for baptism. There are no fees for baptism.
The process involves the following steps:
Feel free to openly discuss your needs and concerns with us as you make contact for an appointment.
Special Religious Education, known as SRE, is conducted in all the Northern Beaches public schools. This ministry is a joint venture by local churches throughout the Northern Beaches and Coffs Coast who finance SRE teachers in our High Schools and material used in primary schools. Northern Beaches Anglicans contributes financially and its members volunteer to teach SRE in 16 classes covering Corindi, Mullaway, Woolgoolga and Sandy Beach Public Schools.
At Northern Beaches Anglicans, we value the contribution of children and youth to our local church and we take seriously their safety and spiritual nurture. Young people are an integral part of Sunday@10. Youth@5, held on Sundays from 5-6.30pm during school term, is a relaxed, parent free zone for youth from late primary school to the end of high school. It is led by experienced youth leaders and offers a safe environment to explore Christian faith, have fun and find support in the complex business of growing through the stages of childhood and adolescence. For more information ring us on 66541370.
The conduct of weddings is one of the delights of local church ministry. As Christians we celebrate marriage and family life and are committed to providing a foundation for fruitful, faithful marriages. In preparation for marriage we ask couples to participate in an internationally acclaimed course PREPARE that is initially conducted online. In our Rector, we offer a minister who is accredited, skilled and experienced in using PREPARE. There are fees for marriage that will be discussed in the introductory interview. Our marriage preparation looks like this:
At Northern Beaches Anglicans we are very conscious of the complexity of life and the profound impact of death. We are committed to intensive pastoral care during times of grief and to the provision of compassionate funeral services in the church building or at the family’s place of choice. We believe that funerals are very personal occasions and so we work with grieving families to shape an appropriate service within the framework of the Anglican Church’s liturgy. We have the facilities to enhance funeral services by the use of multi-media presentations. Request for assistance at times of grief can be made directly to us on 66541370 or through the Funeral Director of your choice.
Cradle to the Grave ministry is simply empty words if it doesn’t include specific opportunities for church services and pastoral care for the elderly and sick. Northern Beaches Anglicans hold a fortnightly Holy Communion Service, called Armchair Church, at the Woolgoolga Retirement Village at 1.30 pm on a Sunday. We also look forward each month to Wednesday Wheelies, a shorter Holy Communion service held on the 3rd Wednesday at 10am in the church. Assistance with transport is available and we share in morning tea after the service. From time to time, as required, we will visit people in their homes or hospital beds to share a short, informal service of Holy Communion. Any further information about these ministries is available through our Parish Office 66541370.
